So as most people know, this is the first time I'm delving into running a brand new D&D setting in a very long time (Middle School). The setting that the Sistar Campaign was within was slowly built and adjusted over years of playing and numerous games/campaigns. That said, I totally welcome any feedback and concerns about my world building in this brand new setting.
General concerns/ideas should go here, and anything specific to a map, city, etc, should please go in the thread about that specific thing/place.
So in general:
- This world is based on an old concept I had for essentially a snow & ice version of Dark Sun. Syracuse once played in a disaster-filled test session of the earliest version back in 2nd Edition. And although it was not great, I DID basically invent sorcerers before 3rd Edition, so that was cool in retrospect.
- You might notice the eastern european feel for many of the names. I've based the human naming conventions mostly around Romanian names/places. A somewhat random choice, but I like the feel. I don't yet have name conventions for the elves and dwarves.
- I want the setting to be big on magic at the core of civilization, and for human societies to generally distrust and hate wizardly magic due to centuries of superstition and dogma.
- The areas of land in between city-states are large and uncontrolled areas, and most borders are highly unofficial.
- Oh, and I won't go into the meta plot of the reasons behind The Great Frost and the 2nd Freeze, b/c those should be mysterious.
